Loans FAQs

Have a question? Check below to see if it is answered in our Frequently Asked Questions.

How are my loan repayments worked out?
  • We offer fair and competitive interest rates [which are subject to your personal circumstances]
  • Repayments are calculated based on the amount you want to borrow and the period you want to borrow over. We will always ensure that payments are affordable based on your current circumstances.
  • There are no arrangements fees and we won’t charge a penalty if you want to repay your loan early
  • Interest is charged daily.
How do we make a decision?

Just like any regulated financial services provider, we will look at your income and expenditure and do a credit check. To help us make a decision we will review the following:

  • Your current credit commitments, such as mail order accounts and credit cards (we will do this through Open Banking or copies of your bank statements)
  • A credit check through TransUnion which will show us whether you are meeting your current commitments, including ‘buy-now pay-later’ lenders like Klarna, Clearpay and Zilch
  • Any previous borrowing record with us
  • Evidence of gambling issues or debt caused by gambling
  • Whether you are in a debt management plan or any form of insolvency, such as a Debt Relief Order (DRO), an IVA or a bankruptcy.
What happens if I already have a WS&L loan but I want to borrow more?
  • We normally ask you to repay at least 50% of your original loan before we will consider another application. We we will then look carefully at your outgoings and income, making sure that you can afford to repay what you borrow, requesting a credit reference check via www.transunion.co.uk.
  • Any ‘top up’ loan will replace your existing loan so that you only have one regular payment. If you have already paid off your borrowing but would like another loan, you can use our loan calculator or contact the team through the mobile app to find out more.
What information will I need for my application?
  • Details of your income and expenditure
  • Permission for us to have access to Open Banking so that we can view your recent banking history and
  • Your payslips (if applicable).
