You’re eligible to join if you live, work or study in our common bond area — or if you live in one of our housing partners’ properties, or work for a partner employer. Once you join, you’ll have access to a range of savings and loan options, along with guidance to support your financial wellbeing.

If your employer is listed below, they offer access to our workplace savings and loans scheme, enabling you to join through your workplace. We offer Instant Access Savings and a Christmas Savings Account (protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme) Ethical loans up to £15,000, with discounted interest rates (rates apply to loans over £1,000 and are subject to individual circumstances).

Acceptable proof of ID and Address Checklist
You cannot use one form of identification for both name and address (e.g. if you provide a driving licence as proof of name, you must provide another form of identification for proof of your address). If you are unable to provide the forms of ID listed below then please contact us to discuss what we might accept.
Proof of Name – must include a photograph and be in date
- Current UK passport
- Valid photocard driving licence (UK or overseas – must show address, signature and photograph)
- Valid EU passport or National ID card (must also clearly state country of issue)
- EEA member state identity card
- Foreign passport with UK visa
- Residence Permit
- Police Warrant Card
- Military ID Card
- Firearms or Shotgun Licence
- PASS card (National Proof of Age Standards Scheme)
Proof of Address
Any of the above containing the exact address (as long as not used for ID purposes)
UK council tax bill/utility bill/DWP benefits letter/tax credits letter
- Must be original, sent to your home address, less than 6 months old and match the exact name on the application and name on proof of ID. NOTE: You cannot use a mobile phone bill, TV licence, online bills or bills to another address.
Bank/building society or credit card statement
- Must be original, sent to your home address, less than 6 months old and match the exact name on the application and name on proof of ID. NOTE: You cannot use store card statements.
Tenancy agreement
- Must be a current local council tenancy agreement or from a well-known housing association
- Must be on headed paper and bear the stamp of the relevant council/housing association
- Must match the exact name and address used in the application.
E-statement/e-bill
- Can only be used where an ID document showing the address as listed above is also used.
If the adult is already a WSL member then an account can be opened for a child on production of the child’s birth certificate. Send us a message via the mobile app.
If the adult is not already a member then ID must be provided that meets our requirements, together with the child’s birth certificate. See acceptable proof of adult ID.
