Celebrating International Credit Union Day
Thursday, 15 October 2026, was International Credit Union Day, when credit unions around the world celebrated what makes us different.
This year’s theme was ‘Cooperative Finance: A Steady Signal in a Noisy World’.
Money can certainly feel noisy right now, from ‘buy-now-pay-later’ prompts to ‘sale ends today’ messages making decision-making a challenge.
Credit unions and other ethical lenders can help to cut through the money noise.
What is it that sets us apart? To start with, we’re owned by our members and run on a not-for-profit basis. We offer ethical, affordable, competitive loans, safe and secure savings, and financial wellbeing guidance to households across the South-west. Many of our members have been part of the WS&L family for years, recommending us to family and friends.
Marking this special day reminded us that we’re proud to be part of a worldwide movement, while serving communities across the South-west.
